Team genealogy: Eagle, New York, 1840s-1869
Eagle was formed in the 1840s in New York, NY, and began playing the New York-style game about 1854. The Eagle name came from the Eagle Hose Cart Co. No. 1 in New York, where some early members had an association. Eagle was one of 16 charter members of the National Association of Base Ball Players (NABBP), the first baseball organization operating 1857-1870. Eagle stopped playing games competitively in 1869. Information from Greg Christiano, Peter Morris and others, Base Ball Founders (2013).
