September 1869: “The Maryland nine will appear [in a game today v. Athletic, Philadelphia, in Baltimore] in a pretty new uniform, consisting of white flannel cap, shirts and pants, with blue stockings.” From the Baltimore Sun, September 1, 1869. Research from Brian McKenna.

Team Genealogy: Maryland, Baltimore 1860-1873
Maryland was formed in Baltimore, MD, in 1860. They were members of the National Association of Base Ball Players (NABBP) from 1867 to 1870. The NABBP was the first baseball organization, operating 1857-1870. Maryland joined the National Association (NA) in 1873. The NA was baseball’s first league, operating 1871-1875. Maryland played sporadically during the 1873 season before folding.
