Written documentation on this uniform:
May 12, 1883, Trenton v. Brooklyn, at Brooklyn: “When the visiting team from Trenton entered the field […] they were attired in gray suits, with red stockings.” From the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, May 13, 1883. Research from Ed Morton.

July 1883: “Displaying New Base Ball Suits— In one of Donnelly’s windows, on South Greene street, today, the new suits of the Trenton Base Ball Club were placed on exhibition, and attracted a great deal of attention. The suits present a handsome combination of colors. The trousers, caps and shirts are of pearl gray woolen cloth. The belts and stockings are of navy blue. The shirts lace up at the breast, the lacing being of blue cord to match the belts and stockings. Each shirt has an outside left breast pocket. A novel thing about the display is a card label placed upon each suit designating the name of the player to whom it belongs. The suits were all made by R. A. Donnelly & Co., the colors having been selected by Mr. Reineman, Col. Donnelly’s partner. The club will don the suits for the first time on Monday [July 23, 1883], when they play the Quickstep, of Wilmington.” From the Trenton Evening Times, July 20, 1883. Research from John Zinn.
