February 1884: “The reserve team uniform will be very handsome, and will consist of a new shade of light gray with trimmings of a rich shade of blue; the stockings and belt will be blue, and the caps of the same shade as the shirt and pants with blue circles.” From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, February 16, 1884. February 1884: ”The St. Louis reserve will be uniformed in light gray, with blue trimmings, blue stockings, belts and blue and gray caps. They will present a handsome appearance.” From the Cincinnati Enquirer, February 24, 1888. Research from Don Stokes.

April 5, 1884, St. Louis (AA) v. St. Louis Reserves, at St. Louis, at Sportsman’s Park: “The Reserves’ uniform is of light gray with light blue stockings and belts, a striped blue and gray cap of the [National] League style, and blue ties with a monogram on the right breast of the shirt.” From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, April 7, 1884.
