April 1886: “The Newark’s uniform is being made by A. G. Spalding & Bro., and not Al Reach as before reported. From The Sporting Life, April 7, 1886.

July 1886: “The Newark Club, who are locally known as the Little Giants, deserve their title. They have beaten some of the strongest clubs in the National League and American Association.” From the New York Sun, July 25, 1886.
