Written documentation on this uniform:
April 1887: “Managers Barnes and Thompson, of the St. Paul base ball team, stood a little to one side of the grand stand in the West St. Paul grounds and watched the men whom they are confident will win the Northwestern pennant as they practiced for an hour or two yesterday afternoon [April 10, 1887]. The men appeared on the grounds in their new uniforms, some of them for the first time. […] The uniform consists of dark blue shirts and breeches, bright red stockings, white belts and caps, the latter with two stripes of red around them. On the front of the shirts are the words ‘St. Paul’ in white letters.” From the St. Paul Globe, April 11, 1887. Research from Paul Winter.
