Visual documentation on this uniform:

Photo A
1888_KansasCity_WA_McCarty
Dated 1888. Old Judge baseball card of J McCarty (88). Spelling of surname incorrect on card. Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date can be confirmed as this was the only year McCarty played for the team. Card shows a blue uniform with white lettering as described in newspaper accounts from this year. Detail view shows light-colored stitching around the shirt placket and pocket. Note that McCarty, a pitcher, wore a short sleeve on his throwing arm and a full sleeve on his other. The short sleeve was most likely hand cut by the player. Year McCarty with team from baseball-reference.com. Image from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Photo B
1888_KansasCity_WA_Gunson
Dated 1888. Old Judge baseball card of J Gunson (WA 88, 90, 91, AA 89). Full view at left, detail view at right. Detail view shows a light-colored cap with subtle horizontal bands, and dark-colored lace ties. Similar to the McCarty photo, see photo A, the short sleeves on Gunson’s uniform appear hand cut.
