Visual documentation on this uniform:
Photo A
Dated 1888. Old Judge baseball card of J McCarty (88). Spelling of surname incorrect on card. Full view at left, detail view at right. Photo date can be confirmed as this was the only year McCarty played for the team. Card shows a blue uniform with white lettering as described in newspaper accounts from this year. Detail view shows light-colored stitching around the shirt placket and pocket. Note that McCarty, a pitcher, wore a short sleeve on his throwing arm and a full sleeve on his other. The short sleeve was most likely hand cut by the player. Year McCarty with team from baseball-reference.com. Image from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Photo B
Dated 1888. Old Judge baseball card of J Gunson (WA 88, 90, 91, AA 89). Full view at left, detail view at right. Years Gunson with team from baseball-reference.com. Image from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
