August 1889: “Suits [of the Unions]–gray shirts and pants, black belt and stockings, dark-blue caps.” From the St. Paul Appeal, August 17, 1889. Research from Don Stokes. This newspaper report announced three days of baseball for the “colored citizens of Chicago” at the “Chicago Ball Park, corner of Loomis and Jackson Streets.” Upcoming games were to be held on “Wednesday August 28, Unions vs. Resolutes of Chicago, Thursday and Friday, August 29 and 30, Pinchbacks of New Orleans vs. Resolutes of Chicago.”
