Written documentation on this uniform:
April 1889: “Rochester’s new uniform for this season has not been quite decided on, but it will be about as follows: the shirt will be white, striped with either blue or gray; trousers and caps dark blue; stockings either blue or dark gray, according to the color of the shirts.” From the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, April 16, 1889. Research from Ed Morton.

May 15, 1889, Rochester v. Toledo at Rochester, Culver Park: “The Rochesters were very perk and chipper in their new uniforms, consisting of blue and white striped shirts and stockings and blue knickers and caps. It is needless to say that after the game the perkness and chipperness were all gone. The dwellers on the banks of the muddy Maumee [Toledo] dropped the new-uniformed Rochesters into the sizzling puree again.” From the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, May 16, 1889. Research from Ed Morton. This report may have suggested that the Rochester team wore striped stockings, which was uncommon for this period.

May 16, 1889, Rochester v. Toledo at Rochester, Culver Park: “The new uniforms of the Rochesters were somewhat soiled at the close of the game for in fifteen cases the team had found the home plate after running around the diamond after it.” From the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, May 17, 1889. Research from Ed Morton. Rochester won the game, 15 to 7.
