Written documentation on this uniform:
May 1891: “Next Sunday [May 17] the Sacrementos will appear in new uniforms, which are by far the handsomest in the league. They are of light gray-colored material, and the trimmings, stockings, belts, caps, and neckties are bright blue in color. The uniforms were made by Spalding Bros. of Chicago, and cost $200. The pants are thickly padded for sliding.” From the Sacramento Record-Union, May 13, 1891. Research from Don Stokes.
June 1891: “This afternoon [June 25] the members of the Sacramento base-ball team struck and refused to play unless Manager Ginsberg promised to retain work and not reduce the salary-roll. Tonight the men had a conference with Ginsberg, and everything was satisfactorily arranged.” From the San Francisco Call, June 26, 1891.
