March 1892: “Montgomery’s colors will be maroon caps, shirts and pants, white belts and stockings and ‘Montgomery’ in big, white letters across the breast.” From the Montgomery Advertiser, March 30, 1892. Research from Don Stokes.

July 1892: “Montgomery, July 17 — […] For the balance of the season, the Lambs play at home.” From The Sporting Life, July 23, 1892. This report utilized the “Lambs” nickname for the Montgomery team.

Montgomery joined the Southern League (SL) in 1892 when the league reformed. The reorganized SL operated between 1892 and 1896 and folded after the 1896 season.
