March 1893: “Chicago, March 13—Captain Charles Comiskey, of the Cincinnati Reds, dropped into Spalding’s last week and placed an order for uniforms. The club will wear white with red trimmings and red stockings away from home.” From The Sporting Life, March 18, 1893.

March 1893: “Captain Comiskey has ordered uniforms. The home uniforms will be the time-honored white, with red stockings and red trimmings. The traveling suits will be navy blue, with red stockings and red trimmings.” From the Cincinnati Enquirer, March 19, 1893. Research from Don Stokes.

June 26, 1893, Cincinnati v. New York, at Cincinnati: “Sixteen balls were used in that seventeen-inning game between New York and Cincinnati. Everybody was so closely interested that here was no attempt to go out after balls fouled into the street. The street urchins reaped a harvest.” From The Sporting Life, July 1, 1893.
