Visual documentation on these uniforms:

Photo A

Dated 1895. Year of photo determined by the fact that 10 of the 13 players in this photo only played for Lynchburg in 1895. Players wore a dark uniform. The cap was of the same material and had a rounded crown, not a pillbox shape. The belt and stockings were dark, possibly black. The shirt had four white buttons and 11 of the 13 players in this photo wore short sleeves. The city name on the shirt was of a mid-tone color and extended to the armpits with wide spacing between the letters. At least two players wore pants with quilted padding. The player standing at top right wore a different uniform, possibly one from the previous year. This uniform was of a mid-tone color and the city name on the shirt was white. The lettering on this uniform was more bold and more tightly spaced when compared to the other uniforms in this photo.

Top row, from left: A Kelly (Lyn 95, Ric VaSL 95), B Berryhill (95), A Orth (95), W Plock (95) and V Willis (Lyn 95, Har PaSL 95). Middle: K McKenna (95), G Schabel (95, 96), B Smith (95, 96), G Thompson (95) and B McIntyre (95). Front: F Ferguson (95), D Leahy (94-96) and E Kagey (Lyn 95, Ric VaSL 95). Player IDs from photo. Dated 1895. Detail view of photo A. Detail view showed a uniform style that was becoming popular in 1895. This new style can be identified by the cap that featured a rounded crown, and by the lettering on the shirt that was widely spaced and extended to the armpits, obscuring the first and last letters of the city name.
