April 1895: “The Wilkesbarre uniform is of navy blue, with white trimmings, a contrast to the black of last year [1894].” From the Syracuse Courier, April 15, 1895.

April 1895: “Wilkes-Barre will have a navy blue with white trimming, a contrast to the sable garb worn by the Coal Heavers last year [1894].” From the Buffalo Morning Express and Illustrated Express, April 16, 1895. Research from Peter Reitan.


Team genealogy: Wilkes-Barre PA, 1893-1898
Wilkes-Barre joined the Eastern League (EL) in 1893. The EL operated between 1891 and 1911 and became the International League in 1912. Wilkes-Barre played in the EL between 1893 and 1898 and dropped out after the 1898 season. Information from Bill O’Neal, The International League (1992).
