April 1896: “The Wilkes-Barre club uniforms this season will consist of a light blue cap, white shirt, navy blue pants, light blue stockings and a buff belt. They will be used first on May 8 at Athletic Park. The Wilkes-Barre base ball club will leave here on Wednesday night [April 29, 1896] for Providence, R. I. Team genealogy: Wilkes-Barre PA, 1893-1898
Wilkes-Barre joined the Eastern League (EL) in 1893. The EL operated between 1891 and 1911 and became the International League in 1912. Wilkes-Barre played in the EL between 1893 and 1898 and dropped out after the 1898 season. Information from Bill O’Neal, The International League (1992).
