Written documentation on these uniforms:
April 24, 1882, Baltimore v. Peabody: “The Baltimores […] wore their new uniforms, consisting of gray pants, shirt and cap, with red stockings, belt and trimmings, quite similar to the uniform of the old Hop Bitters nine.” From the New York Clipper, May 6, 1882. Research from Clifford Blau.

July 21, 1882, Baltimore v. Louisville at Baltimore:: “The club appeared in new white shirts without sleeves, giving them a cleaner appearance than before, but it is really no uniform at all.” From the Baltimore Sun, July 22, 1882. Research from Richard Herschberger. Game date from retrosheet.org.

July 21, 1882, Baltimore v. Louisville at Baltimore: “[Baltimore wore] new white shirts with ‘B. Myers’ embroidered on them.” From Baltimore Daily News, July 22, 1882. Research from Clifford Blau. Note, Henry Myers was the team’s manager and short stop. It is unclear if this Baltimore Daily News report was describing the new shirts accurately or if this report was an editorial comment made by the paper about Myers or the team, both whom were playing poorly. The Baltimore American from the same day (July 22, 1882) alluded to the fact that Myers made many errors at short stop, and that his substitute for the Louisville game, Monk Cline, normally a center fielder, was even worse than Myers in the infield. Baltimore American research from Tom Shieber. Game date from retrosheet.org.

September 5, 1882, Baltimore v. Allegheny, Pittsburgh, at Baltimore: “Owning to the delay of uniforms arriving, [Baltimore was] compelled to play in citizens’ attire. The runs were scored [by Allegheny] on the part of the Baltimore’s failure to field successfully without uniforms, the ground being wet and slippery.” From the Cincinnati Enquirer, September 6, 1882. Research from Ed Morton. Baltimore had recently returned from a road trip, last playing a game in St. Louis on September 3, 1882. St. Louis date from retrosheet.org.

1882: “Baltimore was most disreputable in appearance all season.” From Preston Orem, Baseball From Newspaper Accounts 1882, referencing the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. No specific documentation date given by Orem. Orem info from John Thorn. Further research reveals that this blurb was published in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, October 8, 1882.

Team genealogy:
 Baltimore 1882-1899
Baltimore was formed to join the American Association (AA) in 1882. The AA was a major league operating 1882-1891. Baltimore played in the AA from 1882 to 1889 and then joined the Atlantic Association, a minor league, for the 1890 season. The team rejoined the American Association in late 1890 when the Brooklyn AA team failed. Baltimore played in the American Association for the 1891 season and when the AA folded, Baltimore was added to the National League (NL) for the 1892 season. The NL began operation in 1876. Baltimore played in the NL from 1892 to 1899. After the 1899 season, Baltimore was dropped by the league and the team disbanded. Information from wikipedia.
