July 16, 2026 — Jackets required: See rare photos of the first team in Syracuse, circa 1859.

Baseball mania came to central New York in the Summer of 1859 and the members of the Syracuse Base Ball Club were dressed for the occasion. They wore white jackets, formal neckties, and decorative belts. There are two rare and recently discovered photos of the club in uniform — that is, until a murky third image has suddenly appeared. Is this another team photo of the men in white coats? You be the judge.
